Proposal
The proposal is for the residential area, as shown on the map, to have its suburb name changed from Bondi Junction to Mill Hill.

The name “Mill Hill” has long-standing local significance, referencing early land grants as well as the Mill Hill Estate. It is still used in heritage documentation and community references.
This proposal follows the precedent set by Queens Park, which successfully separated from Bondi Junction in 1992 while retaining the same postcode. That change was approved by the Geographical Names Board and recognised the distinct residential and heritage character of the area. Similarly, Mill Hill is characterised by heritage streetscapes, residential zoning, and community assets that differ markedly from the commercial centre of Bondi Junction.
Renaming the suburb would reflect the area's historical identity and alignment with the Mill Hill Heritage Conservation Area as defined in Waverley Council’s planning instruments.

By changing the name, the precinct would gain a clearer identity and better reflect its advocacy priorities for heritage protection, development and community engagement.
